The subject files is an artificial collection created by Scripps Institution of Oceanography archivist Elizabeth Nobel Shor in 1976. The collection contains manuscript and archival material from many different sources filed under subject headings determined and established by Shor. The collection includes extensive information on Scripps financial affairs under the heading, "Budget," Scripps sponsored research under "Research Projects," Scripps expeditions under "Expeditions," and Scripps research vessels under "Ships." The bulk of the collection documents the directorships of Roger Revelle and William Nierenberg.
